My University Life in UUM

So I'm finally back!
This is my third week in university, I wanted to update my blog badly but well, there's always an activity going on!

How was my orientation week?
I'm glad to say that I survived! Two hours of sleep everyday and our orientation last for one week! UGH! UUM is not the only university having this kind of crazy orientation week, well, although we (the UTBs) are all apart, but we managed to stay in contact using wechat. For what I know from the others, all of them are having the same crazy orientation week like I do. WHY Malaysian university have this kind of tradition? It's so torturing! All those talks and workshops! I was named the fishing king by my new friends because I was always sleeping during the talks. And one more thing, the toilet is really dirty during the orientation week, I think the janitors are still in their holiday, cockroaches and toads everywhere in the toilet and corridor! GOD! Imaging you are having a bath together with a toad in the middle of the night!

My DPP.

My bed room in DPP TM
So we call our hostel DPP and I stay in DPP TM (I think TM sponsored or funded this hostel). I was given 3 hours to clean up my room when I first arrived in UUM. My roommate, Hong Wai was there first, so he get to choose which side of the room he want so sleep in. Good for him, I got the side which the outsider can look into my bed and study desk whenever the door is opened. It's really dusty and I have to clean my side of the room, but luckily the furniture are all new and my bed sheet matches the colour of the furniture very well.

My new gang in UUM.
My new friends
New place and new friends, yea, that's how things work. Although two of the UTB members and few of my best friends are doing degree in UUM with me, but well, they are all staying in different DPP. I met my new friends during the orientation week, eight of them from my DPP, most of them are doing Accounting (Information system), and yeah, we get along together very well. Befriended a few Malays, they are friendly. As a Chinese educated Penangaite, this is the first time feeling the diversity of Malaysia, if you know what I mean. I live in my own community and seldom exposed myself to the others (Malay/ Indian friends, although I have a few).

Activities and sports
I really have to complain about the overflowing activities here in UUM! We were summoned almost everyday (even during late night) for meetings and activities! Seriously! this is not what I'm expecting! I need some private time out and this is the very thing I'm lacking since the orientation day until now. About sports, they have good facilities, International standard go-kart circuit, golf court, sport arena, gym and many more. Talking about gym, I've been waiting for weeks for the gym to open, and it's quite disappointing when I see the gym (because I was a member of a bigger and better gym in Penang). Anyway, I heard that the gym is finally open today, hopefully it's true!

So that's all for this post, thanks to my IT lecturer, I get to update my blog in her class. It's actually an assignment for us but I'm benefiting from it as I'm a usual blogger :)
